Volcanoes National Park

Volcanoes National Park in the Virunga Massif boasts lush green rainforests at nearly 15,000 feet. The park derives its name from the dormant volcanoes that form the Virunga Massif: Karisimbi, the highest peak at 4,507 meters, Bisoke with its verdant crater lake, Sabinyo, Gahinga, and Muhabura.

it is in  the far northwest of Rwanda, the park encompasses the steep slopes of this majestic mountain range, which is home to the endangered mountain gorilla and a diverse array of montane ecosystems, including evergreen and bamboo forests, open grasslands, swamps, and heathlands. The most captivating activity in the park is Mountain Gorilla Trekking, allowing a maximum of 8 people to visit each habituated gorilla group alongside the endemic golden monkeys.

With 10 habituated families of mountain gorillas,  we offer an adventurous and unforgettable opportunity to encounter these endangered species face to face.

There are several gorilla families in the park, each led by a silverback. Notable groups include Amahoro, Hirwa, Sabyinyo, Kwitonda, Agashya, Umubano, Ugenda, Susa (A), Karisimbi / Susa – B, Titus, and Bwenge.

Bird watching

Birdwatching enthusiasts  delight in over 200 bird species, including Albertine Rift endemics, such as Grauer’s rush warbler, Rwenzori batis, Rwenzori turaco, Rwenzori double-collared sunbird, handsome francolin, strange weaver, dusky crimson-wing, collared apalis, red-faced woodland warbler, and Archer’s ground robin.
